Port of Montréal

The Port of Montreal Harbour is located on the North shore of the St.Lawrence River from downtown Montreal to Pointe-aux-Trembles on the East end of the island some 10 km further. Another portion of the installations is located on the South shore of the St-Lawrence river in the Contrecoeur municipality.
The complex is composed of different types of construction: wooden caisson with concrete cope wall, concrete caisson, concrete cell (stake) and sheet piling (Contrecœur). The construction spans over the last century.
In the context of the monitoring program, the port authority of the Port of Montreal Society mandated SPG Hydro International inc. to put together the underwater inspection program including: land survey, positioning of some structural components, visual inspection, acoustic testing, verticality measurement, residual thickness reading and dry loss evaluation, video and photographic expertise and technical report writing.
Since 1998, even the portion above the water line of the installation is included in the mandate. We also carry out the analysis of previous inspection data, inserted in our reports, with the estimation of the deterioration evolution.
To this inspection project are regularly added surveillance mandates of underwater rehabilitation on various components.
This mandate started in 1995 and the present contract continues until the end of 2000 and has been renewed from 2004 to 2006.
