Gascon Fishing Harbour - Oceans and Fisheries Canada, Gaspesie (Québec)
The Gascon Fishing Harbor is located in the Baie-des-Chaleurs about 70km South from Percé on the Gaspesian peninsula.
The harbor is composed of several sections using different construction concepts: a concrete cope wall on a wooden caissons, a Berlin wall and wooden caissons.
In the context of a structural analysis carried out by Public Works and Government Services Canada, SPG Hydro International inc. was mandated to accomplish a technical expertise on all of the components of the harbor. The investigation involved the following: land survey, bathymetric survey, visual inspection, acoustic testing, verticality measurement, sampling and analysis of wood specimen, residual thickness measurement and dry loss evaluation, video and photographic expertise and writing a technical report.
This mandate was realized in Fall of 1998.
